The Australasian Young Coastal Scientists and Engineers Conference is dedicated to providing a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for all attendees. By participating in AusYCSEC, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct throughout the conference, including during social events and online. This means you agree to:

Respect and inclusion: Treat all attendees with respect, regardless of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, background, or other personal characteristics. Foster a collaborative and inclusive atmosphere and respect others’ views and opinions.

Professional conduct: Maintain professional and courteous conduct. Harassment, discrimination, offensive or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. This extends online and to social events where alcohol may be available.

Constructive feedback and communication: Share feedback and engage in scientific discussion thoughtfully and respectfully. We encourage constructive questions, but please consider whether some critiques may be more appropriate as a one-on-one conversation or email. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. 

Scientific integrity: Uphold academic integrity and ensure others’ ideas, research, data and contributions are credited appropriately.

Consideration of venues and the environment: Treat event locations with care, respecting property and the environment. Adhere to the rules and policies of venues, including those where social events are hosted.

Reporting and support: If you experience or witness a violation of this Code, please report it promptly to a member of the AusYCSEC Conference Organising Committee or the directors of the AusYCSEC Ltd NFP. We will handle all concerns with seriousness and confidentiality.

The Conference Organising Committee reserves the right to request any patron to leave the event if they are intoxicated or found to be in breach of this Code of Conduct. This is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all attendees.
