Keynote Speaker

Associate Professor Sarah Hamylton is coastal and reef geoscientist who uses maps and spatial analysis to reveal coastal changes and tell the human stories associated with them. This year’s keynote will explore the perspectives of a female coastal geoscientist balancing work with a family and other intersecting aspects of life. 

In her keynote address, Sarah will draw from her own experiences, as well as those of pioneering women in Australian coral reef science, to explore how women have faced and overcome barriers while working in coastal landscapes. This talk will combine storytelling with analysis of recent data collected from employees working in the field of coastal geosciences around the world. It will engage and educate early and midcareer researchers and industry practitioners about what is possible working in the coastal sciences.
